My Rule; Thy Rule

As we battle the tail end of the flu, there have been times when we didn't feel up to writing and blogging.  And times when there wasn't even energy to read much.  We'll be talking about that experience, because it's another example of  how gracious God is.  But the experience reminded me of another reason why I really appreciate my friend, Todd Parsons.  He allows God to give him a few verses and focus in on an important spiritual point.

Whether you're just very busy or ill enough that you can only handle single spiritual insights at a time, that kind of razor sharp focus is greatly appreciated.  Here's one more.

Psalm 16: 8  I have set the LORD always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.

Prov 25:15  By long forbearing is a prince persuaded, and a soft tongue breaks the bone.

Prov 25:28  He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls.

Today, I am given a choice. To whom shall I give the lead of my soul to? Whom shall I worship? There is one that is my strength and surety. Confidence and joy will only come from Him. I am to remember that I have an enemy that despises me for the position I have been given by grace through faith. He surely will dissuade us from finding our position in Christ, which renders him powerless to have an effect over us in this world. King David said, in Psalm 16:8, "I have set the LORD always before me: because He is at my right hand, I shall not be moved." King David chose to give the rule of his life to know the LORD and let who the LORD is RULE. King David, near the end of his life, said in 2 Sam. 22:36, "Thou hast also given me the shield of Thy salvation: and Thy gentleness hath made me great."

Ps 18:35  You have also given me the shield of Your salvation: and Your right hand has held me up, and Your gentleness has made me great.
