As you probably have figured out by now, I get blessed by Todd Parsons' devotional thoughts.  I'm not one to keep good stuff to myself.  So, we asked Todd if we could share what God has been showing him.  And Todd agreed.  So, he's become the most consistent of our guest posters.  Here he is, again, with another great devotional.

1 John 3:8b  For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.

There is the subject of habits in my heart. How we find them so hard to break because of pathways in our brains that have been establish and can run in automation. We have patterns of thinking that have been established in us for years run in automation and we find ourselves down a road we do not intend to go anymore. They are not easily derailed and like heavy chains they are not easily broken.

However, here in 1 John 3:8b we find something amazing. A weapon that is mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds, 2 Cor. 10:4-5. The manifestation of Christ in us. That He is our friend and not a foe, Heb. 13:8, a friend forever... When Christ is manifested in us, those old lines are taken down and new lines are established. Faith comes by hearing of the Word of God, Rm. 10:17. As we behold the LORD, in His glory, with unveiled faces, we are, changed, 2 Cor. 3:18, even as by the Spirit of the LORD. If you continue in my word, then you are my disciples indeed; And you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free, Jn 8:31-32... If the Son therefore shall make you free, you shall be free indeed, vs 36.

Prov 3:5-7  Trust in the Lord with all your heart; and lean not unto your own understanding.  In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.  Be not wise in your own eyes: fear the Lord, and depart from evil.

Prov 4:20-23  My son, give attention to My words; Incline your ear to My sayings.  Do not let them depart from your eyes; Keep them in the midst of your heart; For they are life to those who find them, And health to all their flesh.  Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life.

The keeping of our heart is a guard, and it happens by a our choice of our attention to what, i.e., Who our friend is. Knowing the truth of Who He is more and more...we will be changed into His image from glory to glory...

Of So Great Love, we are, tjp
