Weak, Stronger, and Strongest‏

We all have things that frighten us, that we're uncomfortable with.  And we all find our own ways of "hiding" from them.  We'll put something between ourselves and what causes our discomfort.  What that is depends on who or what we trust.  In Monday's post we talked about loving God.  The fact is that love depends on that same trust.  And we can never reach that kind of selfless lovee without help.  Today, Todd Parsons looks at a similar principle of God being the source of selfless courage.

For thus says the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel; In returning and rest shall ye be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength, Isa 30:15.

O that we would trust the LORD with all our heart, and lean not on our own understanding, but in all our ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct our paths of thinking. That we would not be wise in our own eyes, but fear and reverence Him... Pr 3:5-7a

Lord, if it be You, bid me come unto You on the water. Matt 14:28
But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me. Matt 14:30

We find ourselves to be afraid easily, as Adam and Eve, and Peter here in Matthew 14. When we are on our own, wise in our own eyes and we feel the strength of that which is stronger than us, such as death, it is easy for us to be afraid. We were designed to be joined to Him who is strongest, for it is the Lord that is our strength to makes us pass beyond the impossible or the inaccessible. Without Him, we fall far short and are quite inferior in our selves to what the Lord has created, that is of a higher order of strength than we. Thus, without Him, there is good reason to be afraid... For He is our Father, and we are from Him...

...the world also is stablished, that it cannot be moved. Ps 93:1b
Thy throne is established of old: thou art from everlasting. Ps 93:2

Your testimonies are very sure: holiness becomes Your house, O Lord, for ever. Ps 93:5

Bless the LORD, O my soul and forget not all His benefits, Ps.103:2.

I will worship You, there, in the beauty of Your holiness. You, LORD, are of the highest order and rank, I will be Yours...

The Lord said to me, "My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness". 2 Cor 12:9

"Through God, we have access to the inaccessible", P. Stevens.
