Privileged to Remember Them

Monday, we honored the veterans who sacrificed their lives on the battlefield for us.  Today, Todd Parsons talks about those who sacrificially labor in the Word.  Whether it's battling with weapons of warfare or spiritual weapons, there's always a sacrifice for the preservation of lives, freedoms, and Truth. That's our theme for the week.  The sacrifices and hearts involved

2 Corinthians 10:3-5 (KJV)  For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

     This morning after passing through much fog in my brain, this subject came clear. God has set men in my life who have something going on in their hearts that is drawing to me. I think it is this, that they have allowed God to write upon their hearts His Word by His Spirit. From these men I am privileged to see a life that is coming from them and not condemnation, which is all too much the common thought of the flesh of man today, sadly to say. With good reason, for when the flesh of man tries to please God by mimicking God, without the Spirit and Life of God, it will only be the letter which kills, 2 Cor.3:6.
     Again to say, I have been privileged to be able to see a difference with men who have made themselves available to God, to let Him write His Word by His Spirit upon their hearts and thus seeing God's Life manifest to me. It is clearly a different ministration, and that is what is drawing to me that I want to know God more, just as these men that are examples to us today...
     This also may I add, that I have noticed that as I have been making myself available to receive God's Word personally via reading, sitting under a pulpit ministry of the Word of God, and fellowshipping with other believers in Christ, I am finding God to be writing His Word by His Spirit upon my heart as well.
     This is exciting to me because I find it to outweigh everything else in my life, when my heart's attention is there. I find daily that I have an Old Sin Nature that remains with me and I could easily fight to keep it under control, but with that fight, I find my attention consumed there and no love, no compassion for others, no mercy, and no grace nor peace nor even life itself... I become consumed with trying to find something to lift me from the pain of fear, guilt and shame to the point of covetousness controlling me. Contentment is nowhere to be found, nor can it be...
     Contentment can only be found by knowing God more personally. Knowing what He has done for me personally and seeing personally what God has written in their hearts He by means of them also is writing in my heart...

 Remember your leaders and superiors in authority [for it was they] who brought to you the Word of God. Observe attentively and consider their manner of living (the outcome of their well-spent lives) and imitate their faith ( their conviction that God exists and is the Creator and Ruler of all things, the Provider and Bestower of eternal salvation through Christ, and their leaning of the entire human personality on God in absolute trust and confidence in His power, wisdom, and goodness).    Jesus Christ (the Messiah) is [always] the same, yesterday, today, [yes] and forever (to the ages), Heb 13:7-8 AMPLIFIED

     Remember them who have gone before us and follow the example God has given to us personally... Veterans of the earthly battles and Veterans of the Eternal warfare that is for the liberty of the souls of men...

     Of So Great Love we are, tjp
