Let The Standard Be Raised, Keep on Looking‏

Yesterday was my birthday.  Normally, Sunday would be a day of study that includes two services. And I'd be studying and creating Monday's post.  The content of the two services was there, but the blog writing got replaced by a bit of extra fellowship and celebration.  So, we offer an extra post by Todd Parsons to wonderfully fill the gap.

So shall they fear the name of the Lord from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him, Isa 59:19

In Genesis, we find the enemy come in like a flood in the garden, with Adam and Eve's choice. We also see there, as we read the account, that God came to them.  He raised up a standard for them against the enemy.  The Lord shed blood and clothed them in the skins of an animal.  With Abraham offering Issac, there was a ram in the thicket.  In Exodus, God raise up a deliverer for Israel, Moses, to deliver them from the power of Egypt.  At the Red Sea, bitter waters, in the wilderness and again at Jordan river; God was the provision for deliverance. I think we could go though every book of the Bible and see the standard that was and is raised to be Christ, our Redeemer.

And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me, John 12:32.

And the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord [is], there [is] liberty; and we all, with unveiled face, the glory of the Lord beholding in a mirror, to the same image are being transformed, from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord, 2 Cor 3:17-18.YLT

For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil, 1 John 3:8.

When we see God's provision for us we will lay aside that which tends to occupy our hearts, like the child who receives a new toy lays aside his favorite toy... The greater gift is come, let us keep on looking, to Him...

Wherefore,... let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us... Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith..., Heb 12:1-2.  ...Looking diligently, Heb 12:15.
