How Does My Garden Grow?‏

Wednesday, we had the last in our three part series on the Xperia Z Ultra and accessories.  That's on our Other Stuff blog.  Having spent the last three Wednesdays on that, with nothing new from any of our guest posters, we thought we'd give Todd Parsons our Friday slot, this week.

The picture to the right is a Chilean vineyard.  It may not be what we would think of when we talk about a garden.  But the look of it gives us a mindset toward farming and gardening.  This week Todd Parsons shares with us some thoughts on spiritual gardening.

Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God, Heb 12:2.

Looking to Him who was not shaken and not detoured from the death of the cross. We may have this character grow in us that, as well, shall not be shaken. That our lives will be with that which remains when all is shaken in our lives and in all that is around us...

And this word, Yet once more, signifies the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain.  Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear, Heb 12:27-28.

When preparing a garden, there is a work that is necessary.  Plowing, that the soil is cultivated and broken up to receive the seed, as well as to reveal the stones of opposition.  Correction is good for us to have the character and nature of the one who is not shaken to grow in us.  We are loved first of God, unconditionally.  In that kind of love, we can lay down our lives before Him and allow Him to condition our soil, that we may grow to be like Him.  Beholding Him as in 2 Cor.3:18 is our growing process, "are changed" into His image even as by the Spirit of the LORD.  When I walk in the light of who He is, I am changed... Our garden will bear fruit that remains...

And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaks unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when you art rebuked of Him: For whom the Lord loves He chastens, and scourges every son whom He receives, Heb 12:5-6.

Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled, Heb 12:15.

Meditate upon these things; give yourself wholly to them; that your profiting may appear to all.  Take heed unto yourself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this you shalt both save yourself, and them that hear you, 1 Tim 4:15-16.

We have a God and Father who is not shaken by our inconsistencies, for He sent His Son who remained constant on our behalf and has placed us in Him and has placed His Holy Spirit in our hearts to make His abode...consistently with us... "How? In This Kind of Love"...
