Knowing God..."in the now"‏

This week, we're relying more on our guest posters.  Our "Coal and Diamond" series isn't complete, yet.  But there are some other important things that are crying out for my attention.  Consider it the invasion of Real Life (TM).  We'll continue with the series either Friday or Monday.  In the meantime, here's another great thought from Todd Parsons:

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.  Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah. Ps 46:1-3

As for me I know that on my own I can be blown away easily by what can come my way.  Jeremiah 17:5 says, "the man that trust in man, that trusts in the arm of the flesh is like the scrub in the desert having no root".  However, Jeremiah 17:7 says, "the man the trusts in the LORD, whose hope the LORD is, he shall be as a tree planted by the river and shall not see heat when it comes, and neither will cease from yielding fruit in a year of drought"....  So this one thing I know, there is a refuge and strength for me in God...  Psalm 61...  I can cry out to the LORD, He will lead me to the Rock

There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High, Ps 46:4.

I picture a river as a place that we can note as a constant supply of nourishment where we can refresh ourselves and be strengthened. The LORD our God has this river of supply for you and I. He never has stopped speaking. He speaks with a still small voice. I will need to be still and choose to allow His voice to be heard above others in me, even my own. As I listen, I will find refuge and strength. As the trouble arise in my present moments, I can be stilled by the refreshment of the river of His Words confirming in my heart of Who it is I am presently knowing...God, Who is Mightier.

Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth, Ps 46:10.

Of So Great Love, we are, tjp
