Pursue the Root of Righteousness

Here’s another meditation gem from Todd Parsons, beginning with this verse:

As righteousness tends to life: so he that pursues evil pursues it to his own death, Prov 11:19.

To walk with the Lord because of our right standing that has been freely given us, infuses our hearts with joy that is from Him and our hearts are strengthened, sure, and immovable; all because of the root of righteousness that the Lord alone gives.

To pursue that which is separate from the Lord, (i.e., the Lord is not in it), is to be pursuing that which is void of life itself, though for a time there may be a few laughs, this will not remain, death; separation, will there takeover. But looking beyond the veil of the immediate, to see its eternal end... What is the fruit of the root?

While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal, 2 Cor 4:18.

A man shall not be established by wickedness: but the root of the righteous shall not be moved, Prov 12:3.

The wicked desires the net of evil men: but the root of the righteous yields fruit, Prov 12:12.
