Great Expectations

As any of us who have had to sit through English Lit. well know, that’s the title of one of Charles Dickens’ novels.  It’s also our thoughts for the blog, as we move forward.  There are a lot of changes, some not necessarily evident.  So, let’s take a look.

The first, but not very evident, change is in my schedule.  Having done writing, in one form or another, for a number of years, my schedule started to become more erratic, centered on my writing.  When 1 Corinthians 14:40 says, “Let all things be done decently and in order.”, I believe that includes schedule.  To that end, I’m becoming more “legalistic” in creating and adhering to my schedule.  Not that I’m a legalist, but my pastor (now home with the Lord) used to say that enforced discipline becomes personal discipline.  In other words, if we do something often enough because we have to, that becomes habit and how we normally do things.  Yes, we still need to allow some flexibility.  But aiming toward maintaining a schedule should allow more time for a greater variety of things – beyond just the writing.

It’s been awhile since I’ve done anything fully expository, so our return will be with a “line upon line, precept upon precept” look at John 15.  I have no idea how in depth that will be.  I usually discover what God is going to give me to write, as I write it.  What’s that old saying about “the joy is in the journey”?  I’m looking forward to what God will do.

You’ll notice that we’ve redone the site with a new theme.  We thought it was time for a fresh new look.  Along with that, you’ll note that we’ve taken on some advertising.  The click-throughs will help support the time we take to make the blogs some of the best places to be on the web.

Last, but not least, we’re going to be working on some ebooks that we think will be blessings.  More on that, as they unfold.  But we’re looking forward to a joyous 2013.  All because we still live in our favorite verse for everything.

Matthew 6:33 (KJV)  But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

We’re not certain whether it will be Sunday or Wednesday of next week for our full online return, but we’re excited!  We ask for your prayers and support.
