Randomized on 11/15/11

Justin Lathrop quoted Jeff Goins as saying, “No one who changed the world did it by waiting for an audience.”  Think about that in relation to our previous post and what was said about partnering with God.  The quote speaks to part of the principle we discussed.  We know that God is both omnipotent and omniscient.  His power is such that He really doesn’t need any help.  Being all knowing, He’s aware that we usually need to be active participants in the process of our own blessing or we won’t appreciate what we get.  Since God loves us, He gives us the opportunity to jointly participate with Him in blessing ourselves.  So, there’s a lot of wisdom in one of Tim Schraeder’s tweets, yesterday, “Have you ever stopped to thank God for the opportunity to be doing what you do? Maybe you should. You are where you are for a reason.”  Worth remembering.

It’s been awhile since we’ve done a random thoughts post.  Today’s post is one and the second part has to do with some of the content and the blog layout.

You’ve probably noticed that there are occasionally some guest posts and some of my posts are illustrated with some pretty amazing photographs.  As I’ve mentioned before, I want to properly credit those who help make BSM a better place.  That’s usually done in each associated post.  But there’s also our Honor Roll page.  That includes the writer or photographer, title of their work, plus the title and date of the post.  So you can find them more easily and get blessed all over again.

One other note about the photography.  Each image is used with the specific permission of the photographer, obtained beforehand.  And I’ve been able to stick to a particular philosophy in using them.  At least so far, each of the images is attached to a specific post because it was the seed thought for that post.  The picture spoke a particular spiritual truth to me that I believed needed to be shared.  We hope to keep that coming, for as long as God desires.

One side note.  So far, all the photographers come from contacts made on Google+ and my circle of photographers is now well over 500.  Some well known, some not.  But lots of talent.  So, look forward to some interesting images and interesting thoughts from God.

Psalm 2:10-11  Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth.  Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling.

1Peter 2:9  But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:

An interesting combination of verses.  Psalm 2 tells the kings to be wise, the judges are to be instructed, they are both to serve the Lord with reverential fear and “rejoice with trembling”.  And that’s all clarified in 1 Peter 2:9.  We are chosen and a royal priesthood, making us kings and judges.  We are holy.  And when it says we’re peculiar, in the King James English, it’s not saying we’re oddballs.  It is saying we are unique and set aside for a special purpose.  Almost an alternate way of saying “holy”, in order to add emphasis.  And we shew forth praises because we have been taken out of darkness into spiritual light.  Good reasons to serve with reverence and rejoice with a trembling of relief at realizing what we were saved from.  And the power we are saved by.

What are you rejoicing about today?
