Presidential Priorities

Congratulations to President Obama. Our prayers will be with him. The election that brought him into office has highlighted some polarities in this country that ought to be eliminated. But, no matter who you voted for, there are a couple of things that need to be kept in mind.

First, the forefathers of our country instituted three branches of government, all balancing the other two. So, no matter how good a candidate wants to be or how bad you may think he is, his (or her) successes & failures are going to be mediated by the other two branches of government.

Secondly, my Bible says that God is in control. And God is for us, not against us. Our reaction to the circumstances around us are based on how much we believe that. If you look at the life of Job, he had some pretty negative things go on for some time. None of them were based on any sin in his life, but rather on God giving Satan a lesson. And it certainly was an opportunity for Job to develop his trust & faith in God. Are our circumstances today controlled any less by God? Does He love His creation any less today than in Biblical times? The Bible says we are all sinners & God does love the sinner, but not the sin. The Bible also tells us we can expect trials. So, here's one sinner who is looking forward to being continually loved by God, no matter what circumstances come my way.
